These Are The World’s Most In Demand Jobs

But students of social sciences and humanities should not despair. Another chart in the report shows that 26 employers are considering hiring psychology graduates, 22 will hire political science/international relations graduates, and 19 are looking for sociology graduates. In the humanities, 19 employers are looking for English language and literature majors, 17 are looking for history majors, and 14 will hire foreign language and literature majors. Social work is at the bottom of social sciences majors, with just seven employers, and gender studies is at the bottom of humanities degrees, with just 10. But keep in mind that you can tailor your job search to the field of your choice. Social work graduates can apply to social service agencies and government positions, while gender studies students can seek employment in a nonprofit that fights domestic violence or in an organization that promotes women’s leadership such as the Girl Scouts.

However, if you want to go into a field where there is an excess of demand and high salaries, and you have an aptitude or interest in finance or IT, many doors will open for you, as you can see in the tables below. Paying off their student debt. Using data collected from the NACE Winter 2023 Salary Survey, we’ve compiled the 15 degrees most in demand by employers, along with their starting salary ranges in 2023.

Let’s start with the baccalaureate. In 2023, finance degrees were most in demand, with starting salaries reaching $68,000 per year. Depending on factors such as the person’s geographic location, this is a very respectable salary, especially early in their career. As we dig through the data, you’ll notice that computer science consistently tops the list of most in-demand degrees and is often among the highest paying when it comes to starting salary. Let’s then move on to the most in-demand master’s degrees in 2023. If you look at the table below, the first thing you’ll notice is that there is some overlap compared to bachelor’s degrees. Additionally, starting salary ranges are very different from our previous table. Conversely, the earning potential of a new business administration hire was significantly higher with a master’s degree.

Not for the faint of heart, doctorates require a whole ton of rigorous research and writing, and in most cases you’ll be asked to write a dissertation. Considered the cornerstone of a doctoral program, a dissertation can run between 100 and 500 pages, yes. So it goes without saying that doctorates are rare. In fact, only about 1.2% of the current US population has a doctorate. Nevertheless, PhD holders will enjoy much higher earning potential over the course of their careers than professionals with a bachelor’s or master’s degree. It is up to the individual to decide if student debt is worth jumping into the world of a PhD.

This once again demonstrates the growing demand for jobs in the technology industry, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. Here, the starting salary range is much higher for those with PhDs than for those with master’s degrees, and new hires with PhDs in computer science can earn up to $142,000 per year.

Always consider how your career might go in the future. Will your role be increasingly necessary in the coming decades?
